Gift A Meal at Christmas

Could you help someone in food crisis this Christmas?

Are you struggling to find a gift for someone this Christmas? Then we may have the answer for you!!

Food bills are difficult to manage all year round however at Christmas it becomes even more difficult. The Rutherglen & Cambuslang Foodbank Gift A Meal campaign is asking for your support this Christmas to ease food poverty in our local community.

Gift A Meal donation pays for a three-day food parcel for people struggling to buy food. 100% of your donation will go to the purchase of food – no admin costs. We have based our costs on our current food parcel options:

• • • • • • • • • • • • 1 person food parcel for 3 days £15
                      • 2 people food parcel for 3 days £20
                      • Family food parcel for 3 days £30

Each parcel contains a range of food products including a toilet roll and soap however if you can manage to provide any additional support you can add-on a Personal Hygiene Package £5.50 which helps with washing powder, washing up liquid, deodorant, shampoo etc.

Our Foodbank supplies are based on charitable donations and therefore we can only offer products if they are donated.

Have you got someone in your life who has everything and you are struggling for a Christmas Gift idea? Why not donate a Gift A Meal parcel on their behalf and we will send you a thank you letter that you can send to them. You will not only be giving them a thoughtful Christmas present but you are giving others a gift of food and hope this Christmas.

Our shop contains all the urgently needed items that are provided in our food bags when visiting the Foodbank.

Every purchase you make directly supports your local community.

Foodbank Reverse Advent Calendar

This donation campaign has been a long-term firm favourite with our supporters.

The Rutherglen & Cambuslang Foodbank Advent Calendar can be downloaded here: Rutherglen-Cambuslang-Foodbank-Christmas-Reverse-Advent-Calendar-2026.pdf

The purpose behind the calendar is to donate each December date from the calendar with the food item that we really need – which can be seen on the calendar. At the end of December, you will have 24 items to donate to us. Thank you!

These items go directly to our Foodbank warehouse and are used in the Foodbank parcels that we provide at our sessions, helping those in food poverty within our local area.

We are a bit like Santa and we put in more hours during December – we will be providing additional opening times of our Foodbanks during December so keep an eye on our website/social media to bring along your donations. Most of our donators bring these before Christmas however we welcome donations all year round.

Volunteer Christmas Video

Our Foodbank volunteers are unsung heroes in our eyes – they consistently donate their time and energy to ensuring our Foodbank Sessions run smoothly. There are a lot of people who make our sessions function that you never see if you are attending the Foodbank and like Santa’s Elves, they do all this work behind the scenes – so if you are one of our Foodbank Volunteers – thank you for all you do – it is very much appreciated.

This year we thought we would have a volunteer event which was light-hearted but also contains the realistic message of our Foodbank – that food poverty is still an issue within our community. We have recorded a seasonal video which is being produced and edited as we speak – keep an eye-out on our website and socials for the updates.

Thank You to our Donators

We are hoping to update our website with your generosity on a regular basis during the festive season – so if you are delivering food donations to our warehouse/ Foodbank sessions you will be asked if you would like to be Thanked by us and perhaps take a quick picture – go on Santa will thank you in your Christmas Stocking !!! Don’t worry if you are a little bit camera shy Santa understands we would still like to leave you a thank you message on our socials so let us know your name/group name and we will give you an online thank you!
